What should I do if I think my child has special needs?

  • Your first point of call is your child’s class teacher.It is particularly useful to share information about what you see at home and talk to them about your concerns.

  • If your child is pre-school age speak to your Health visitor or Nursery/Pre-school staff.

  • If you are concerned that your child may have a medical need your GP will also be able to offer support.

Can I self-refer if I am concerned that my child needs additional hep?

  • You can ask your GP to refer you for specialist health assessments

  • Anyone can bring a child or young person who they believe has, or probably has SEN or a disability, to the attention of the local authority.
