Will my child be expected to take part in statutory assessments (SATs)?
Most children will take part in Key Stage 1 assessment and KS2 tests, including children with SEND. Some children will require access arrangements to enable them to take part in the tests and the school will need to apply for these, demonstrating why a pupil is eligible.
Where a child is assessed to be working below the level of the tests this must be confirmed when the pupils are registered and the child will not sit the test.
Where a child cannot access all of the tests due to a profound hearing impairment the school can apply for compensatory marks. There are also modified mental maths test materials for those with a hearing impairment and children who use sign language.
Braille and modified print versions of the tests are available for those with a visual impairment or other special need.
