Our school values, alongside our aim to prepare learners to be active citizens in the community, sit perfectly alongside  the Department for Education's guidance on promoting British Values to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain.

As a school, we recognise that our school population does not reflect the cultural diversity enjoyed by many city schools.  We want our pupils to develop an understanding of the core British values of:

• DEMOCRACY 
• RULE OF LAW
• INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH
• MUTUAL RESPECT
• RELIGIOUS FREEDOM & TOLERANCE OF THOSE WITH DIFFERENT FAITHS, BELIEFS AND FOR THOSE WITHOUT A FAITH. 

Our curriculum is designed to reflect this distinctive feature of our school.  We promote British Values through our spiritual, moral, social and cultural education which permeates through the school’s curriculum and supports the development of the ‘whole child’.  Our key driver across all learning is diversity and we explicitly plan to promote children's understanding of diversity in its widest sense.    In practice, this is explored in lessons, assemblies and through the promotion of our school values.
